Crispy Baked Tofu
Crispy Baked Tofu
1 block of EXTRA FIRM* tofu (usually 12-16oz)
1 tablespoon oil (sesame, olive, avocado all work)
1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
1-2 tablespoons cornstarch
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Slice the tofu in approximate ½ slices. Place on a clean towel (a tea towel or other low lint towel works great), cover, and press with something heavy (I use a cast iron pan), and let sit for about 15 minutes.
Cut the tofu into bite size cubes.
Place in a bowl and add the oil and soy sauce, toss well. Add the cornstarch, toss very well, until all pieces are coated (your tofu may crumble a wee bit, that’s ok).
Place on a baking sheet that is lined with parchment or a silicone baking mat.
Bake 15-20 minutes. Toss/flip the tofu a bit. Bake another 10-15 minutes.
Use in your favorite stir-fry or however you wish!

*Extra firm tofu is essential. There are also silken, regular and firm tofu. Please avoid these and stick with the extra firm. Trust me. :)
